Criteria

The successful candidate(s) must demonstrate or provide the following:

  1. Grade 12 Nominal Roll student who is graduating secondary school with a Dogwood Diploma.
  2. Reside on one of the W̱SÁNEĆ nations (Tsartlip, Tseycum, Tsawout, Pauquachin). Please provide a written statement about your connection to the nation you reside on.
  3. Demonstrate academic success and have plans to continue their education at the post-secondary level. Please highlight your current academic standing and your future education plans in the written application.
  4. Demonstrate cultural pride along with the values of the W̱SÁNEĆ people (honesty, respect, caring, trust, and sharing). Please provide an example in your written application on how you have demonstrated cultural pride and/or values.
  5. Provide at least one letter of support from a teacher, counselor, coach, or other professional who can speak to the candidate’s academic success.
  6. Registered student in School District 63, 62 or 61.

Nominal Roll students who feel that they qualify for this award should submit their written application to the W̱SÁNEĆ School Board Selection Committee. The committee is comprised of Indigenous Education Staff from School District 63 and representatives from the W̱SÁNEĆ School Board.

A monetary prize worth $500.00 will be awarded.
