TEFA Report For 2014

In January 2012, the BC First Nations Education Steering Committee (FNESC), the Government of Canada, and the Government of British Columbia signed a Tripartite Education Framework Agreement (TEFA). This new agreement provides First Nations with funding for their schools that is based on the BC Ministry of Education's Operating Grants Manual, with specific adaptations. According to TEFA, First Nations in BC must submit to Canada the annual AANDC nominal roll. First Nations also must provide performance indicator data to the FNSA/FNESC. This information will then be submitted to AANDC in aggregate, and it is to be shared with parents at the community level. Please find the attached report for by clicking this link, or the image to the right

We hope that sharing this information with parents and our community will help to
promote informed and thoughtful discussion about how we can all work together to help
support the outcomes we want for our students.

Parent Information Night and Dinner, January 22

PARENT INFORMATION NIGHT & DINNER

January 22, 2015 at 5:00 p.m. in the Cultural Building

Celebrating the growth and development of the Elementary & High Schools and the new changes planned for the 2015/16 school year.

The community is invited to a dinner and information session hosted by the W̱SÁNEĆ School Board to enjoy a meal together and discuss some positive changes in the elementary and high school programs for the 2015 – 2016 school year and beyond. Our schools are growing fast and are looking to expand their programs to meet the current and future needs of the W̱SÁNEĆ Community.

The Elementary School is now in its second year of offering a two-‐stream education for parents who wish their children to participate in the SENĆOŦEN Early Immersion Language and Culture Program. The immersion program began two years ago with Kindergarten, the following year adding Grade 1, and now next year the program will expand to offer immersion in Kindergarten, Grade 1 and Grade 2. The expansion means that there is a need for more teachers and more classroom space to accommodate the growing interest in the community for immersion.
