Question 1: Do you have to be Indigenous to work at the WSB?
Answer: Although there is preference given towards Indigenous people in the application process, we welcome diversity and hire people based on their qualifications.
Question 2: Do you have to speak SENĆOŦEN to work at the WSB?
Answer: The ability to speak SENĆOŦEN is only necessary if you’re applying to the immersion program. In that case, you will take a test to determine your language proficiency.
Question 3: Do you need a University education to work at the WSB?
Answer: There are different requirements for all the different positions. For example, to work as a custodian, a grade 10 education is required. For other positions, please check individual job requirements for more details.
Question 4: Can I list my references as “upon request”?
Answer: You must include the names, phone numbers, and emails of three references in your resumé within the application package.
Question 5: Do I need anything more than my resumé to apply for a job?
Answer: Yes. For skilled workers, your application should include a cover letter, resumé, and three references (including name, phone number, and email).
For teachers, the application requires a cover letter, resumé, three references, BC teacher certificate, transcripts, Teacher Qualification Services (TQS) card, and reports on teaching.

Question 6: I’ve heard you don’t pay as much as the school district, is that true?
Answer: We pay just as much as the other school districts.
