First Nations Fine Arts/Practical Arts/Athletics Award

Graduating High School Student

Deadline:  June 5, 2020 before 12 P.M.  No exceptions.

Criteria:

  1. The successful candidate must be a grade 12 student who is graduating secondary school with a Dogwood Diploma
  2. The candidate must have W̱SÁNEĆ Ancestry and must provide a written statement of their W̱SÁNEĆ history/heritage.
  3. The candidate must demonstrate a keen interest and specific skill in the area of endeavour (fine arts, practical arts, or athletics).  The candidate must highlight their achievements and interests in their written application.
  4. The recipient must demonstrate cultural pride along with the values of the W̱SÁNEĆ people (honesty, respect, caring, trust, and sharing). Please provide an example in your written application on how you have demonstrated cultural pride and/or values.
  5. The recipient must provide at least one letter of support from a teacher, counsellor, coach or other professional who can speak to the candidate’s success in fine arts, practical arts or athletics.
  6. The candidate must be a registered student in School District 63, 62 or 61.

Students who feel that they qualify for this award should submit their written application to the W̱SÁNEĆ School Board Selection Committee. The committee is comprised of Indigenous Education Staff from School District 63 and representatives from the W̱SÁNEĆ School Board.
