Enrolment

Students can register at any time during the school year (September to June). When you enroll your children, you must provide the school with documentation that verified their age. One of the following documents may be used: Birth Certificate, Baptismal Certificate, Passport, Status Card, or Health Care Card

If your child will be four (4) years of age by December 31 of this year, he/she may attend Nursery starting in September of this year.

Children turning five (5) by December 31 of this year may attend Kindergarten.

Funding

Your child (ren) qualify for educational assistance if you and your child (ren) reside on one of the four Saanich communities and your child (ren) attends a public school in School District #63. Also your child (ren) must qualify to be on the Indian and Northern Affairs, Nominal Roll at September 30 of each school year.

Students on the Nominal Roll in grade 8 to 12 qualify for a student incentive cheque two weeks after they get their report card.

Yes, but note that if the tuition costs are higher than what is issued through Indian and Northern Affairs, the parent/guardian is responsible for any costs above allotted amount.

General Questions

The WSB has signed a Local Education Agreement with School District #63 which includes providing transportation to those students who reside on: Pauquachin, Tsartlip, Tsawout and Tseycum. Please refer to the Transportation Policy that outlines in the agreement in detail. The out-of-catchement students may qualify for funding up to one school year. A formal letter of request must be submitted and approved prior to the beginning of the school year.

The W̱SÁNEĆ School Board is comprised of the Chiefs and Council of four Saanich communites which includes: Pauquachin First Nation, Tsartlip First Nation, Tsawout First Nation and Tseycum First Nation. The mandate of the WSB is to distribute and manage educational funding for its membership.
