WSB Phased Restart Plan

Dear Parents and Families,
The Provincial Government announced that students in B.C. will return to in-class learning on September 10, 2020. The Ministry of Education will be grouping Public School students into defined cohorts at each school level.
The First Nations Education Steering Committee (FNESC) recently released a statement that First Nation independent schools are exempt from the requirements, to fully open and submit a planning template to the Ministry of Education. It was also made clear that First Nations have the authority to Self-Govern and provide an Educational Restart Plan that supports local circumstances.
The W̱SÁNEĆ School Board of Directors held a duly convened meeting on Tuesday, August 11, 2020 to discuss a Restart Plan for September. The Board of Directors hold the health and safety of students, staff and the W̱SÁNEĆ community as the highest priority.
The W̱SÁNEĆ School Board will be offering remote learning for – LAU,WELNEW Tribal School, W̱SÁNEĆ Leadership Secondary School, and Saanich Adult Education Centre, starting on Thursday, September 10, 2020. The W̱SÁNEĆ Leadership Secondary School and Saanich Adult Education Centre will also be providing 1-2 days a week of outdoor education for their students.
The W̱SÁNEĆ School Board will continue to stay informed on current COVID-19 health and safety recommendations from the Ministry of Health and the B.C. Centre for Disease Control (BCCDC). The W̱SÁNEĆ School Board will remain working diligently on COVID-19 Policies and Procedures to welcome students back to the classrooms, when it is safe to do so.
