Enrollment

Please browse this section for some common questions regarding student registration, starting ages, and special needs concerns.

How do I enroll my child? 1
  • How do I enroll my child?

    Students can register at any time during the school year (September to June). When you enroll your children, you must provide the school with documentation that verified their age. One of the following documents may be used: Birth Certificate, Baptismal Certificate, Passport, Status Card, or Health Care Card

At what age can I enroll my child in Nursery? 2
  • At what age can I enroll my child in Nursery?

    If your child will be four (4) years of age by December 31 of this year, he/she may attend Nursery starting in September of this year.

At what age can I enroll my child in Kindergarten? 3
  • At what age can I enroll my child in Kindergarten?

    Children turning five (5) by December 31 of this year may attend Kindergarten.

What if my child has special needs? 4
  • What if my child has special needs? What are some of the supports and services?

    LTS facilitates program development for students with special needs. Please contact the school Principal,Maryann Gladstone.

Funding

These are some of the most common questions regarding funding for students who attend classes at the W̱SÁNEĆ School Board, and questions regarding students who attend other schools in the district.

Does my child receive funding? 1
  • Does my child (ren) qualify for funds through the W̱SÁNEĆ School Board?

    Your child (ren) qualify for educational assistance if you and your child (ren) reside on one of the four Saanich communites and your child (ren) attends a public school in School District #63. Also your child (ren) must qualify to be on the Indian and Northern Affairs, Nominal Roll at September 30 of each school year.

What grade does my child (ren) start to receive a student incentive cheque? 2
  • What grade does my child start to receive a student incentive cheque?

    Students on the Nominal Roll in grade 8 to 12 qualify for a student incentive cheque two weeks after they get their report card.

Can my child attend a private school? 3
  • Can my child attend a private school?

    Yes, but note that if the tuition costs are higher than what is issued through Indian and Northern Affairs, the parent/guardian is responsible for any costs above allotted amount.

Does my child qualify to apply for the the WSB Scholarships. 4
  • Does my child qualify to apply for the the WSB Scholarships?

    Yes, if your child is on the WSB Nominal Roll and fill the required criteria.

General Questions

Does my child qualify for transportation? 1
  • Does my child qualify for transportation?

    The WSB has signed a Local Education Agreement with School District #63 which includes providing transportation to those students who reside on: Pauquachin, Tsartlip, Tsawout and Tseycum. Please refer to the Transportation Policy that outlines in the agreement in detail. The out-of-catchement students may qualify for funding up to one school year. A formal letter of request must be submitted and approved prior to the beginning of the school year.

  • Who is the W̱SÁNEĆ School Board?

    The W̱SÁNEĆ School Board is comprised of the Chiefs and Council of four Saanich communites which includes: Pauquachin First Nation, Tsartlip First Nation, Tsawout First Nation and Tseycum First Nation. The mandate of the WSB is to distribute and manage educational funding for its membership.
